This week, YOUR META's takin' this show on the road! THE ROAD TO THE CAPITOL!
We are LIVE from the #HALTsolitary Confinement Day of Action, at the State Capitol, in Albany! We're speaking with and following the efforts of Rise Up Kingston, HALTsolitary Confinement, Women's Prison Association, Clean Slate NY, Rising Ground, Steps to End Family Violence, and Coalition for Women Prisoners, plus other groups like the NYCLU. We're on the road to making sure literally, internationally recognized TORTURE is no longer a feature of New York State prisons.
Not only do we sit down with advocates, but we sit down with advocates who have BEEN THERE. Such as LadyKathryn Williams-Julien, who spent eighteen months in solitary confinement before her release. For reference, according to the UN Mandela Rules, fifteen days of solitary confinement is considered torture.
If WE, THE PEOPLE, aren't THE POWER . . . then WE, THE PEOPLE need to FIGHT THE POWER!
